WL Gore and Associates to display new simulation system at VIVA
WL Gore and Associates has announced plans to unveil new medical simulation technology at the Vascular Interventional Advances 2011 (VIVA) conference.
The company will be attending the industry event in Las Vegas in order to showcase its new PROcedure Rehearsal Studio, which is used to help physicians to practice endovascular repair procedures.
Using a tailored 3D anatomical model based on CT scans taken from patients, users can simulate, analyse and evaluate preoperative endovascular treatment options, as would be conducted using the Gore Excluder AAA Endoprosthesis system.
The new device will be made available via major medical conferences throughout the autumn and 2012.
David Abeyta, aortic business leader for Gore, said: "Gore is tirelessly committed to driving medical innovation and delivering the newest tools into the hands of vascular surgeons and radiologists to improve performance in endovascular procedures and patient outcomes."
The company's Gore Excluder AAA Endoprosthesis device was introduced earlier this year, with the first patient being treated using the system in January 2011.
