Wyeth announces new departmental president
Wyeth has announced that Dr Michael Kamarck has been promoted to president of technical operations and product supply (TO&PS).
He will be responsible for all aspects of product supply and technical operations for the company, including its biopharma, pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare, vaccine and nutritional units.
The selection follows the appointing of Dr Karmarck’s predecessor, Charles Portwood to the role of executive vice president of TO&PS operational excellence.
Both employees will be reporting to Joseph Mahardy, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals president.
He said: “Dr Kamarck brings strong leadership as well as superb technical and scientific skills to this critical role.”
“He will continue the transformation of our TO&PS organization as we supply medicines of exceptional quality to our customers and patients.”
Before joining Wyeth in 2001, Dr Karmarck was senior vice president of operations for Bayer Biologicals.
In 2007, he was promoted to executive vice president of TO&PS, which saw him responsible for biotechnology and pharmaceutical operations at 13 international sites.
Founded in 1926, Wyeth is based in Madison, US and operated in more than 100 countries.
The company employs approximately 47,500 people worldwide and reported net revenue in 2007 of $22.4 billion (14.78 billion pounds).
Over the same period, the organisation’s diluted earnings per share was $3.52.
