Zimmer reports sales growth in second quarter
Zimmer has expressed confidence in its growth prospects for the remainder of the year after posting encouraging second quarter results.
The medical device company accrued $1.1 billion (680.1 million pounds), an increase of 3.7 per cent compared to Q2 2009, while earnings, cash flow and income all saw improvements.
In addition to strong product sales, the company has also made moves to expand the scope of its business with the planned acquisition of Beijing Montagne Medical Device Co, which manufactures orthopaedic implants.
David Dvorak, Zimmer’s president and chief executive officer, stated that the launch of new products and instruments in the last quarter will also aid its business development.
He said: “We anticipate accelerated growth through 2010 as these new offerings augment our portfolio of clinically-proven solutions.”
Last month, Zimmer announced that it is contributing funding to the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in order to improve education standards in the field of surgery.
