Zimmer Surgical renews contract with RTI as instrument supplier

Zimmer Surgical has signed an agreement with Pioneer Surgical Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary of RTI, to supply the instrumentation used in the company's trauma business.

Pioneer will manufacture a range of metal products – including integrated plates and cables, cannulated screws and instrumentation – at a facility in Marquette, Michigan for distribution by Zimmer Trauma, extending a ten-year partnership.

According to Nathan Folkert, president of the division, Zimmer is "pleased to continue its long-standing collaborative relationship with RTI".

"I am excited they will continue to help us accomplish our mission of delivering innovative products to surgeons and patients around the world," he commented.

Brian K Hutchison, president and chief executive officer of RTI, hailed Zimmer for a "long-standing tradition" of serving surgeons in trauma care.

He said Pioneer's instrumentation is "the best in ease-of-use and quality".

Zimmer's orthopaedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma devices, dental implants and related surgical products are sold in more than 100 territories, with the company running operations in over 25 countries.
