Animal health in 2016

20th December 2015

In 2016 Animal health sector continues to be one of the most exciting business sectors, veterinary advisors, sales and marketing will continue to be a fast growing. Within the companion animal sector there is set to be increased spend on each of our loved pets, this facilitating growth in diagnostic capital equipment, e.g. MRI and Ultrasound equipment with increased treatments and better outcomes for our loved pets.

What this all means for you, the UK maintains its position as a very attractive market for international companies,  there are more career opportunities and there is upward movement in salaries, 2016 is the year you should be able to move yourself forward.

For the employing companies this market shift has changed their recruiting, there are insufficient experienced people and insufficient commercial veterinary nurses to meet demand. The employable pool has been extended, helped with increasing salaries, to candidates with experience  from cross industry and also, increasingly seeking  vets to move into field sales roles.

So how do you help yourself in 2016,

1) Be aware of your market value, e.g. check out our salary survey, if your role is right for you and your career now, prepare yourself for your reviews

2) Have a career plan, what do you want to do, which products are in growth, what are your career  objectives

3) Once you have a plan, you can work on making it happen, or communicate this plan to a reputable recruitment consultant, who’ll do the legwork

4) Of course before meeting any potential employers, be confident that the role on offer is the role you are seeking. Time is precious for everyone.

The outcome of a successful job move is brilliant, but change is not easy for most of us, using  the services of a professional and ethical recruitment consultant helps enormously with the change process, supportive conversation, insight to expectations, personalities and culture,  and being there as a skilled third party negotiator when it come to the  financials. Positive change for a great 2016.
