The Lowdown on Degree Apprenticeships
Many school leavers, are currently cramming in last minute revision in preparation for their pending exams. Once all done and dusted, the next big question will be what next? With English universities being able to charge up to £9,250 per year for an undergraduate degree, this could be enough to put you off of applying. If you’re still wanting to gain a higher education, but without the massive costs after you graduate, there is another route to consider; Degree Apprenticeships.
What is a Degree Apprenticeship?
Degree Apprenticeships combine working with studying, where you will achieve a degree upon completion. Whilst studying, you will be employed, earning a salary, and gaining work experience. Degree Apprenticeships offer an alternative route for those who don’t want to go to university but still have the desire to learn. They’re just as challenging as traditional degrees due to the added pressure of working, but don’t worry you will be given time within your working week to study.
The Benefits:
There are many advantages to doing a Degree Apprenticeship, the biggest thing being that you will gain a full degree without paying the fees that you would have to if you went to university. You will be employed within your desired field, be earning wage, and you will gain valuable work experience that will put you ahead of other candidates should you choose to move on in the future. All training costs are co funded by the company you work for and the government so essentially it’s free – which is even better!
Zenopa’s Degree Apprenticeship:
Zenopa offers a government approved Degree Apprenticeship programme specialising in recruitment. Over the programme, you will become an expert within the healthcare market, specialising in either scientific, medical devices, healthcare communications, pharmaceutical, consumer (over the counter) engineering, dental or animal health. Over the course, you will learn the importance of resourcing those looking for a role, building relationships with our clients, right through to managing offers and building your own portfolio. You will also learn how to manage your workload, and become a team player. You will be given the best tools for the job and rewarded handsomely for your efforts. You will be set objectives, and be provided weekly progress and support meetings with your manager, and be given allocated time throughout your working week to manage your studies, with a monthly meet up with your allocated tutor on site to support you.
But don’t just take our word for it, year from our 2018 apprentices:
“I choose Zenopa because of how comfortable I felt during the interview process, now while working here I feel supported by my team and I see the vast number of opportunities around me. This apprentice allows me to be able to continue my studies and get industry experience all at once.” Marni Yorke, Healthcare Communications Apprentice
“After finishing A levels I knew that I wanted to further my education but I knew that I didn’t want to do another few years in a classroom. This apprenticeship was therefore a great alternative as it not only gives me the opportunity to gain a degree but will also give me experience in the workplace. Not only this, but I’m getting paid to do so! So far it has been going better than I could have imagined. My confidence has sky rocketed, I am well on my way to becoming an industry expert and I have built some great relationships along the way. I couldn’t recommend it enough!
Albert Baines, Engineering Apprentice
“There are many different reasons why I chose to join the apprenticeship scheme at Zenopa Recruitment, one main factor being that I am very money motivated and I saw an opportunity to study while earning money and have no debt at the end. I was in a situation where I didn’t feel ready to go to university and move away from home, but I knew that I wanted to get a degree. When I saw that Zenopa were offering a degree apprenticeship scheme 10 minutes from where I lived it was something that I could not turn down. I am currently 9 months into the apprenticeship scheme and I am loving it, I am earning a good salary and bonus on top. I have an extremely supportive team and a great environment to work in. I have tasks sent monthly for my apprenticeship work as well as a meeting with my tutor once a month. “
