Zenopa joins the fight to battle against Cancer

23rd July 2019

On Sunday 21st July, Phil, Issy, Mark Atkinson, Liam, Claire, Mark Denton and Intern Rebecca, congregated on the Rye in High Wycombe, to join those taking part in this year’s Race or Life.

As one of the biggest series of fundraising events for Cancer Research UK, The Race for Life started life 25 years ago as a women-only 5K event in which participants can walk, jog or run (or a combination of all three) round. Due to growing demand over the years, other events were added, such as tough mudder and for the first time this year, men were able to participate and join the movement to beat cancer.

High Wycombe’s Race for Life event offers at 5k or 10k route, and the Zenopa team were able to choose which event they wished to participate in. As weekly park run participants, Phil and Claire opted to push themselves and went for the 10K option, with the rest of the team choosing the traditional 5K run.

The day was certainly a humid one, but after a quick warm up it was off to the start line. Everyone completed the course and most importantly had fun doing it.

“This was a very well organised event and it was great to see so many people getting involved locally.” Said Business Manager Liam Whelan, “Nearly everyone at Zenopa has known someone who has been affected by cancer in some way, so it was great to be able to take part together to raise money and awareness.”

To date, Zenopa has raised £806 for Cancer Research UK. If you wish to make a donation, you can do so on Zenopa’s just giving page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/zenopa-recruitment.
