Role Overview
This is a great opportunity to take responsibility for the content of one of the key titles as well as to manage the junior Editorial team.

A successful medical publishing company who create highly inspiring & visual digital scientific products and information for HCPs and patients are hiring for an experienced Managing Editor for a maternity cover contract.
The company works on a number of revolutionary healthcare areas such as vaccines and Immune-oncology.
The role is for a 6-month term, with the possibility to extend.
Role Requirements
Key responsibilities
– Hands-on journal development, including commissioning content for the journal
– Ensure that all published content meets the required scientific standards – make final accept/reject/revise content decisions
– Maintain the quality, profile and performance of your journal
– Develop specialised scientific knowledge of allocated subject areas
– Managing the junior Editors
Person Specifications
Skills/Experience
– A biomedical background to at least BSc level
– Journals publishing experience in an editorial role, ideally in a related field to Immuno-Oncology
– Excellent relationship management and communication skills and confidence in working with internal and external stakeholders, including senior academics
– Good understanding of the open access journals publishing business and processes
– Experience of managing a team, setting goals and objectives and effective work delegation (desirable).
– Excellent organisation skills and an ability to prioritise effectively
Package
The company could consider FTC or freelance (day rate) and could look at part time options (e.g 4 days a week). The role could be performed remote or hybrid.
