Dechra Spotlights DuOtic, Zenalpha at London Vet Show 2026
Dechra will host exclusive CPD sessions at the London Vet Show on Thursday 19 November 2026, spotlighting canine otitis externa management and sedation practice. Announced on 19 October 2026, the sessions reinforce Dechra’s UK commercial positioning around DuOtic, the first licensed steroid and antifungal combination for canine otitis externa, and Zenalpha, its medetomidine-vatinoxan sedation franchise, both of which sit in highly competitive UK companion animal therapeutic categories.
The first CPD session, “From consultation to resolution: how RVNs transform otitis outcomes” (11.20am-12.10pm), will be presented by Dan White, nurse specialist in dermatology at Bristol Vet Specialists, outlining a structured nurse-led otitis consultation pathway covering assessment, diagnostics, client communication and veterinary surgeon collaboration. The second session, “Calmer cases, better days: the Zenalpha effect” (2.00pm-2.50pm), will be facilitated by Dechra veterinary technical advisor Geoff Duncan and feature Jo Murrell (consultant in anaesthesia and analgesia at Bristol Vet Specialists) and Louie Webber (senior veterinary surgeon at Mobivet) exploring sedation in everyday practice.
Visitors to Dechra’s stand (R30) will be able to engage with DuOtic (terbinafine 10mg plus betamethasone 1mg), positioned as the first licensed steroid and antifungal combination for the treatment of otitis externa in dogs associated with susceptible strains of Malassezia pachydermatis. The product sharpens Dechra’s competitive positioning across the UK companion animal otic therapeutics market, challenging incumbents Virbac (EasOtic), Zoetis (Osurnia), Elanco (Mometamax, Easotic) and MSD Animal Health (Posatex). Zenalpha (medetomidine 0.5mg/ml plus vatinoxan 10mg/ml), developed to deliver effective sedation with vatinoxan-mediated attenuation of cardiovascular side effects, competes directly with Zoetis Dexdomitor (dexmedetomidine), Virbac Sedalin (acepromazine) and Jurox Alfaxan franchises.
The commercial signal is a maturing UK companion animal dermatology and sedation market where differentiated product mechanisms (first-in-class fixed-dose combinations, cardiovascular-sparing sedation) and CPD-driven brand engagement remain key competitive levers. London Vet Show commands substantial UK veterinary audience share. Expect Dechra, Virbac, Zoetis, Elanco, MSD Animal Health, Boehringer Ingelheim and Jurox to sharpen their UK canine therapeutic positioning through 2027.
