Medtronic Expands Reach with Neuroguard IEP Launch

Medtronic, a leader in medical device innovation, has fully launched the Neuroguard Integrated Embolic Protection (IEP) system, marking a significant milestone in the treatment of carotid artery disease. This expansion follows a successful limited distribution phase and is backed by a strategic partnership with Contego Medical, the original developer of the device. The Neuroguard IEP stands out for its 3-in-1 technology, integrating a stent, post-dilation balloon, and filter, promising enhanced patient outcomes and procedural efficiency. 

The Neuroguard IEP system represents a paradigm shift in carotid artery disease management, with its comprehensive approach showing promising results in the PERFORMANCE II study. Remarkably, the study reported no incidents of major strokes, neurological deaths, or stent-related complications, despite a substantial portion of participants presenting with severely calcified lesions. This innovative solution addresses a critical need in the cardiovascular market by improving safety and reducing the risk of complications during stenting procedures. As Medtronic rolls out this technology, the collaboration with Contego Medical highlights their commitment to advancing healthcare through strategic alliances.
