Field Service Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking a hardworking and hands-on Field Service Engineer to commission, start-up, service and install our range of laboratory automation and associated systems across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. This is a highly varied, field-based role combining installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting and customer support. You will be the technical face of the company on customer sites, working with advanced automation and electromechanical systems in regulated laboratory environments.

Role Requirements
Commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, repair and installation of instruments and automation systems on customer sites across the UK and Europe.
Providing outstanding technical support both on-site and remotely.
Training customers on instrument operation and basic servicing.
Responsible for accurate inventory control of company tools, parts and equipment.
Undertake training on related products to expand service coverage.
Maintain electronic service records and retain all associated documentation.
Work closely with other departments and external contractors to ensure customer needs are met efficiently and professionally.
Share technical knowledge, experience and service methodology with colleagues to improve overall service effectiveness.
Carry out any additional duties necessary to support the efficient running of the service department.
Person Specifications
Essential:
Background in science or engineering (e.g., lab technician, engineering graduate, apprenticeship-trained, military engineers).
A strong interest in both science and engineering, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
Proactive and self-motivated, able to manage time effectively and work independently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build strong customer relationships.
Flexibility to travel extensively across Europe.
Desirable:
Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., medical, scientific, pharmaceutical).
Knowledge of robotics, motion control, amplifiers, or lab automation.
Experience in a field-based or customer-facing technical role.
Qualification in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Package
Base Salary: dependent on experience (£35,000-£45,000).
Company Car.
Annual Leave: 22 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave.
Tools Provided: Laptop, mobile phone, and necessary equipment for fieldwork.
Training and Development: Full training provided with ongoing opportunities to upskill.
Progression: Clear pathway to grow into a Senior/principal engineer role.
