Role : Product development and Support Engineer
Location : Hertfordshire (Harpenden Office)
Elliot Scientific, (part of the MetroTest Scientific company) is a photonics and equipment manufacturer and distributor based in the UK. We are looking for a Junior product support and development engineer to help us grow our own brand products and expand our support functions in an exciting “Tech.” marketplace.
Reporting to the Director, this primarily technical role, provides a varied range of responsibilities and activities such as product development, technical support and market development duties.
A strong background in optics and microscopy, product design, and an interest in customer focussed engagement are a requirement. With a pro-active and creative style you will become an important team member and be able to work autonomously of varied projects from fibre-optic alignment systems to digital laser tweezers. There is scope to develop your skills and responsibilities within the role and progress within the company as we continue to grow.

Role Requirements
– Review and Update current product functionalities
– Liaise with and identify new suppliers and subcontractors
– Evaluate markets and white space opportunities
– Represent the organisation at scientific meetings and exhibitions.
– Support customer technical enquiries
– Install “systems” on-site both in the UK and globally
– Support our distribution network on technical/ support
Person Specifications
Experience in optics/ instrumentation is required. You will need good PC skills ( MS office/ Labview/Python or similar platforms), good communication skills (English as a first language) and the ability to work to a deadline to deliver the core product milestones are essential. Package
Base salary between £30,000 – £45,000 dependent on experience
Bonus, contributory pension scheme, health insurance after qualifying period.
