Field Service Engineer
Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to support advanced microscopy instrumentation across the North East and Scotland. This role focuses on maintaining, installing, and supporting highly specialised scientific systems used in research and analytical laboratories. you will take ownership of instrument performance in the field. Your work will ensure customers can operate complex microscopy systems reliably, supporting critical scientific research and analytical outcomes.

Role Requirements
Deliver field service support including system installations, upgrades, preventive maintenance, and instrument repairs.
Provide technical guidance and instruction to customers to ensure safe and effective operation of their equipment.
Offer responsive technical support via phone and email to resolve operational issues.
Maintain accurate service documentation and log job activity through internal customer support systems.
Coordinate work schedules with service teams, operations, and management to ensure efficient service delivery.
Manage local spare parts inventory and maintain compliance with safety policies and ISO9001 management standards.
Person Specifications
Experience working with SEM or TEM instrumentation is desirable.
Background in electrical or electronic engineering equipment.
Laboratory-based candidates with microscopy experience are also encouraged to apply.
Military engineering backgrounds have previously transitioned successfully into this environment.
