Role Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a Key Account Manager to join a growing commercial team supporting strategic life science accounts across the UK’s “Golden Triangle” (London, Cambridge, and Oxford).

This is a highly strategic, relationship driven role focused on managing and growing a portfolio of major pharmaceutical and biotechnology accounts. The position is primarily account management focused (around 80-90% strategic account development) rather than high-volume new business activity.

The successful candidate will work closely with leading research organisations and pharmaceutical companies, engaging with scientists, lab leaders, procurement teams and manufacturing stakeholders to drive long-term partnerships and revenue growth.

Company Information

Our client is a global life sciences organisation specialising in the development and supply of high-quality recombinant proteins, antibodies and critical reagents used in drug discovery, cell and gene therapy, and vaccine development.

Working with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology organisations worldwide, the company is recognised as a premium scientific partner supporting advanced therapeutic research and development. With an established international presence and European operations, the business collaborates closely with major pharma, biotech, and research institutions to accelerate innovation in the life sciences sector.

Role Requirements

Build and execute strategic account plans, including mapping key stakeholders across complex pharma organisations.
Develop relationships with research scientists, principal investigators, lab heads, procurement teams and manufacturing stakeholders.
Drive revenue growth within existing accounts through strategic expansion and solution-based selling.
Deliver scientific presentations, product demonstrations and “lunch & learn” sessions to research teams.
Support discussions around vendor agreements, procurement processes and quality/manufacturing requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams including technical sales, inside sales, and marketing to support customer initiatives.
Maintain regular engagement with key accounts through scheduled visits and relationship development.
Contribute to regional sales strategy and support the continued growth of the organisation’s presence within leading pharma and biotech companies.

Person Specifications

1–2 years of wet lab experience within a relevant scientific environment.
Strong scientific credibility and confidence engaging with laboratory researchers and technical stakeholders.
Commercial experience in life science sales, account management, or a related customer-facing role is advantageous.
Experience with protein-based research, reagents, or related life science products is highly desirable.
Understanding of drug discovery, therapeutic development, or cell line development would be beneficial.
Ability to manage and grow strategic, high-value accounts within complex organisations.
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to deliver scientific training or educational sessions.
Ambitious, energetic and commercially driven with the ability to perform in a high-performance environment.
