Area Sales Manager
Role Overview
This is a field-based Technical Sales role covering the North of the UK and Scotland, with additional responsibility supporting custom plant engineering projects across the UK and Ireland.
The position is a true hybrid, combining sales of standard catalogue temperature control equipment with technically complex, application-led engineered solutions. It will suit a technically minded sales professional who enjoys being on the road, working closely with customers in industrial and laboratory environments, and taking ownership of the full sales cycle.

Role Requirements
Manage, grow, and maximise sales across the northern UK territory for both portfolio products and plant engineering solutions
Sell standard catalogue temperature control systems across the North of England and Scotland
Support and develop custom, RFQ-based plant engineering projects across the UK and Ireland
Spend approximately 50% of time on new business development and 50% managing and growing existing accounts
Work closely with an existing Plant Engineering specialist, contributing technically and commercially to projects
Operate a consultative, technical sales process: understanding applications, specifying solutions, and preparing quotations
Generate new leads through cold calling, LinkedIn, exhibitions, seminars, and customer networking
Manage leads, opportunities, quotes, and orders through a CRM system
Liaise closely with service teams to support repairs, maintenance, and long-term customer relationships
Attend customer sites regularly, working comfortably in industrial environments
Travel 4–5 days per week with limited overnight stays (typically 5–10 per year)
Attend product and sales training in Germany (3–4 weeks total, split across the year)
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Person Specifications
Essential:
Strong technical background (engineering or scientific discipline)
Experience in technical or consultative sales of capital equipment or engineered solutions
Comfortable working in industrial and laboratory environments
Confident engaging customers on complex applications and translating requirements into solutions
Proven ability to develop new business alongside managing existing accounts
Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working autonomously
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Eligible to travel internationally for training
Desirable:
Experience selling temperature control, thermal management, or related capital equipment
Exposure to sectors such as chemical, pharmaceutical, biopharma, aerospace, automotive, energy, hydrogen, or research environments
CRM experience (Salesforce or similar)

Basic salary up to £55,000 (flexible for the right candidate)
