Role Overview

This Field Service Engineer role is focused on the maintenance, repair, and compliance of safety-critical storage and filtration systems used in laboratory and industrial environments. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment performs reliably and meets required safety standards across your territory.

The role combines structured service work with fault diagnosis and technical problem-solving. You will operate across a defined region covering Northern England and Scotland, following a planned service schedule while responding to equipment issues. The position supports consistent, process-led delivery rather than reactive firefighting, with a clear focus on safety, compliance, and system performance.

Company Information

Our client operates within the scientific and industrial safety space, specialising in storage and handling solutions for hazardous materials, including fire-resistant cabinets, ventilation systems, and chemical storage equipment.

The organisation has built its reputation on delivering compliant, safety-led solutions that protect people, facilities, and the environment. The culture is structured and quality-focused, with a strong emphasis on doing work correctly, maintaining high safety standards, and supporting engineers with the training and tools required to deliver consistently. Teams operate with a clear sense of responsibility for the systems they maintain, with ongoing investment in technical capability as product complexity evolves.

Carry out routine maintenance and legally compliant safety checks across mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring all equipment meets required standards.
Diagnose faults and complete repairs on safety cabinets, air filtration units, and related equipment in a structured and timely manner.
Commission new equipment, including installation, calibration, and removal or replacement of components where required.
Deliver and install equipment for exhibitions and customer requirements, ensuring correct setup and dismantling.
Provide basic guidance to customers on equipment use and maintenance to support ongoing safe operation.
Manage a high-volume service schedule, maintaining accurate records and completing work efficiently across multiple daily visits.

Person Specifications

Mechanical or electrical qualification such as City and Guilds or equivalent.
Experience in fault finding and the ability to work independently in field-based environments.
Strong customer-facing skills with a clear and professional communication style.
Open to candidates from junior level or those transitioning from other industries with relevant technical skills.

Package

Salary up to £34,000.
Discretionary bonus.
28 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas shutdown.
40-hour working week.
