Role Overview

Company Overview
Our client is a global manufacturer of medical instruments and endoscopy equipment, founded in 1945 and internationally recognised for its work in endoscopic technology.
The business focuses on innovation, technical expertise, continuous learning and career development, with a strong emphasis on developing talented people into future sales specialists.
This is designed as a long-term career opportunity, with structured training and a clear progression pathway from trainee through to an autonomous Sales Specialist.
We’re looking for a Trainee Endoscopic Sales Specialist to cover the North East, Yorkshire, parts of Lincolnshire and Northumberland.
This is a field-based role, ideally suited to someone based in Leeds or the surrounding areas. Regular travel is a key part of the position, with 3–4 hours of travel per day realistic across the territory.
Initially, you’ll support experienced sales specialists while developing your product, clinical and sales knowledge through a structured training programme.
The role progresses from Trainee Sales Specialist in Year 1, to Associate Sales Specialist in Year 2, with the aim of becoming a fully autonomous Sales Specialist in Year 3, managing your own territory and customer base.

Role Requirements

– Shadow and support experienced sales colleagues and the regional sales team.
– Build relationships with NHS and private healthcare customers.
– Develop product, clinical and commercial knowledge through the TOPs programme.
– Manage your own diary and workload.
– Support product demonstrations, exhibitions, congresses and workshops.
– Gather competitor and market intelligence.
– Report customer feedback and sales opportunities.
– Maintain accurate CRM records.
– Learn how to train customers on the equipment.
– As you progress, take ownership of sales opportunities including leads, quotations, demonstrations, customer engagement and closing sales.
– Ultimately manage your own territory and customer base independently.
The portfolio covers areas including endoscopy, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, imaging, ENT, orthopaedics, neurosurgery and intubation.

Person Specifications

Medical sales experience is not essential. We’re looking for someone with the right personality, attitude and potential to become a strong salesperson.
You’ll ideally be:
– Confident, outgoing and comfortable building relationships.
– Competitive, ambitious and motivated to progress.
– Resilient and comfortable working under pressure.
– Self-motivated, organised and able to take initiative.
– A strong team player with a good work ethic.
– Commercially aware and customer-focused.
– Able to learn and absorb complex technical and clinical information.
– Genuinely interested in medical devices and healthcare.
A degree is preferred, particularly in Biomedical Sciences, Human Sciences, Sports Science or another science-related subject.
The strongest candidates may have a science degree and experience shadowing a medical device representative, a science degree with customer-facing experience and an interest in medical devices, or a Physiotherapy background with strong commercial drive and transferable experience.
Evidence of achievement is important, whether through sport, academics, sales, leadership, progression or customer-facing success.

Package

– Up to £15,000 bonus in Year 1, including a £5,000 first six-month bonus scheme:
– Stage 1 exam pass – £1,250
– Stage 2 presentation – £1,250
– Final advanced exam – £2,500
– Company car – Audi A4, BMW 3 Series or similar.
– £4 daily lunch allowance.
– Company pension scheme.
– Laptop and iPhone.
– £15 monthly internet allowance.
– Six-month probation period.
– Clear progression from Trainee Sales Specialist → Associate Sales Specialist → Sales Specialist.
– £37,000 OTE commission at Sales Specialist level, with accelerators for overachievement.
